Etihad cargo announce more routes

Etihad cargo are big players in both China and India. Operating a total of 2000 tonnes of cargo capacity across both countries it is a committed supporter in the region. 79 flights operate to India and 11 to China each week. With the introduction of a direct flight between the two countries Etihad’s cargo division shows it’s commitment to further developing ties between the two countries.

From the 08th December 2022 Etihad cargo will have twice weekly freighter capacity between Chennai and Shanghai.

What is driving Etihad cargo to commit to this route

The Indian market is currently booming | The country’s industrial production is rising and manufacturing output is rebounding, driven by increases in the production of machinery and equipment, motor vehicles and metals, among other. As part of Etihad cargo’s commitment to supporting this key market, the carrier has opened up freighter capacity from Chennai to support increased demand from customers in the region.

Abu Dhabi to the world

Etihad Cargo’s reach is broad. The Shanghai – Chennai flight continues on to Abu Dhabi giving both Shanghai and Chennai direct access to Etihad’s hub. Allowing transit onward across the whole freighter network. This supplements the twice-weekly direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Guangzhou in China and means that the Abu Dhabi based airline now flies passenger and cargo into Shanghai / Beijing and Guangzhou.

With the increase in cool storage capacity at Abu Dhabi coinciding with the introduction of the increased capacity from China and India it also opens up more Pharma opportunities for the airline. A lot of work has been done to get the 3000 square metre facility ready with state of the art equipment.
